Interlibrary Loan Policies
Who May Make InterLibrary Loan (ILL) Requests?
CSU faculty, staff and currently registered students are eligible to use this service. All others should contact their local public library for ILL services.
How Much Does ILL Cost?
Charges for books or journal articles requested using ILL are decided by the lending library. The CSU Library Staff will make every attempt to request the item from a library that does not charge or that has the lowest possible fee. The CSU Library will cover up to $5.00 per request. The ILL request form has a place where you may indicate the maximum that you are willing to spend for each request if the fee exceeds $5.00.
Items Not Available Via ILL Services
No materials owned or accessible at the Library in print, microform, or electronic format may be requested via ILL. Lending libraries have the right to refuse to lend any of its materials through ILL.
Notification of Items Available for Pickup
The Library Staff will contact you by CSU email when an item you have requested is available for download or pickup at the Library. Materials for pickup will be kept at the Circulation Desk on the main level of the Library.
Loan Periods, Renewals, Returning Materials, and Overdue Fines
The loan period is decided by the lending library, but is generally 2-4 weeks. Some libraries will allow renewals. Submit your renewal request to the Library Staff before the book is due. Items must be returned to the CSU Library. Items kept past the due date will be billed at the same rate as CSU items, 10ยข per day.
Journal articles requested via OCLC are provided in a photocopy or electronic file that is yours to keep. They do not need to be returned.
If an item is damaged or lost, contact the Library Staff as soon as possible. The Library Staff will contact the lending library and inquire as to their billing policy.
