CSU Online and Distance Education Students
Access to Library Materials
All CSU students have access to Rivers Library subscriptions to electronic resources, including ebooks, journals, and databases. Off-campus access is granted through electronic authentication. An inter-library loan request can be made by any student for a digital copy of an article not available through Rivers Library subscriptions.
The following policies apply to borrowing of physical library items by CSU distance education students.
Local Students:
- CSU students who reside within the tri-county area (Charleston, Dorchester, and Berkeley Counties) have access to the physical collections of the Library.
- Local students must visit the Library to check out physical items from the Library collection, PASCAL Delivers, and inter-library loan.
Distance Education Students in the Continental United States:
- Circulating materials from the Rivers Library collection will be delivered by mail within the continental United States. Rivers Library materials cannot be shipped internationally.
- While there is no charge for delivery, distance education students are responsible for the cost of returning those materials to the Rivers Library. A mailing label is included.
Inter-library Loan and PASCAL Delivers:
- South Carolina distance education students may request that PASCAL Delivers materials be delivered to any PASCAL-member institution for local pickup.
- PASCAL Delivers is not available outside of South Carolina.
- Inter-library loan of physical books should be made through the distance student’s local library.
